The beach is about 30 minutes away and there are many food options all down Merrill St. The dorms here are nice and spacious. To put it quite plainly, there is just not enough housing for all the students. Even the housing that is provided, is just not very nice nor clean. The registration process for classes was extremely difficult.
I enjoy watching sporting events such as soccer and basketball. The professors here are amazing and they love helping their students when needed. This is an amazing university to attend and I definitely recommend to seniors in high school who are looking for a great place to continue their education… The professors are engaging and offer feedback when you need it. The 8 week term may sound intimidating but you have the chance to be completely submerged in the subject!

People will say there is nothing to do in Gainesville, but because it is predominantly college town, there’s a lot to do catered specifically to college students, you just need to know where to look for it! There’s a lot of beautiful trails and springs in the area if you like exploring nature as well. Lots of local restaurants and businesses located within close proximity to campus, and many walkable from campus. The student body is highly ambitious and involved, so you’ll have no trouble finding people to study with or with similar interests. Overall, the University of Florida is one of the best public universities in the state and nation, and all the hard work put into getting in is worth it!
